Dear John,
What if I told you Twitter was back -- minus Elon Musk?
Well, that’s exactly what the new social media platform Bluesky seems to have achieved.
While Musk’s X actively boosts conservative influencers, unfairly skews algorithms, and weaponizes social media to amplify a conservative agenda, Bluesky appears to have made something different.
Unlike Mark Zuckerberg’s Threads, it also does not deprioritize news and political commentary.

A groundbreaking new study from the Pew Research Center finds that nearly 40% of American adults under 30 regularly get their news from social media, making these platforms critical battlegrounds for truth and democracy.
That’s why I’ve joined Bluesky -- a platform that prioritizes meaningful dialogue and fairness. Even better? It’s not owned by a MAGA billionaire.
While it has a long way to go to successfully challenge Musk’s X, Bluesky has been adding nearly a million users a day for the past two weeks, many driven by a desire to escape algorithms bought and paid for by MAGA loyalists or conservative SuperPACs.
If we are going to organize successfully these next few years, social networks free of the influence of billionaires and corporations are crucial.
Inequality Media Civic Action has spent years building a social media presence across platforms that counters disinformation and fear narratives with facts and unity. When a new platform takes off, we’re always among the first to join -- and Bluesky is no different.
Thanks to this team, we’re already among the top 30 accounts on Bluesky. And with your support, I know we can keep this momentum going.
I’m hoping you will join me in this important move. We can no longer remain on the margins of these platforms while disinformation thrives and progressive voices are silenced. Because this isn’t just about joining a new platform -- it’s about fighting for the values that unite us.
Come follow us on Bluesky!
Thank you for continuing to help us educate and engage the public around inequality, democracy, and the imbalance of power in America.
Let’s continue to get the truth out, together.
