John,
I’m a gardener. Every fall, I get the garden ready for the winter–a process that takes more time than people expect. Roses must be pruned, the last weeds are pulled so they don’t take root, bulbs are planted, hay is laid over our garden beds, and the irrigation system is drained. We take stock of what grew well and what didn’t, and we make a plan for what seeds to order again and which ones to skip so that come Spring, we’re ready.
So too with our campaign operation. The off-year is active–data is analyzed, the office is packed up neatly, yard signs are stored, and we look over our finances. And we plan. We plan, plan, plan, and prepare. We’re winterizing our operation here at Team Scholten, but believe me, we’re still working. You’re going to be hearing from us a bit less, but we’re still going to need you to help us with our future preparations.
Not only am I rebuilding for my own operation, but I’m growing my leadership fund to help others. I hope I can count on your support as we use this time to plan, strategize, and prepare for the year ahead.

With deep gratitude,
Hillary
