Dear SPUC supporter,

We are now just days away from the debate and vote on Kim Leadbeater’s Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill. On the 29th November, MPs will decide whether to allow state-sponsored death in the UK.

The intelligence I have suggests that the vote will be very close, so every MP’s vote counts.

Please, if you have not done so already, write to your MP and ask them to vote AGAINST this bill on Friday. While it is possible to it to be defeated at a later stage, this is very rare, and MPs who have any doubts about this bill need to be told to vote against it now, not later.

Demonstration on Friday

I can now provide more details of the demo taking place while the bill is being debated on Friday.

Not Dead Yet (the campaign group of disabled people against assisted suicide) will be rallying against the bill. Supporters of all organisations campaigning against the bill are welcome to join Care Not Killing (CNK) in supporting Not Dead Yet.

CNK will be providing t-shirts and placards. Additionally, any healthcare professionals are welcome to hold Our Duty of Care (ODOC) placards and wear ODOC t-shirts.

The demonstration will start at 8.15am (to ensure media attention), but if you can’t make it that early, come when you can. It will continue until the vote (expected at 2.30pm).

If you are in London, or can get there, please come and support this demonstration. Many MPs are making up their minds on the day of the vote, so this will be our last chance to influence them.

Thank you for all you are doing to defeat this bill.

Public Policy Manager

P.S – thank you to everyone forwarding their MPs’ replies! I’m not able to acknowledge them all, but they are all incredibly helpful.
