Commerce seeks public input on middle housing planning guidance

The Washington State Department of Commerce is seeking public comment on five draft housing planning guidance documents. These documents are intended to assist local communities in developing their own middle housing ordinances, regulations, and other official controls. Additionally, a webinar about the project is set for Dec. 5.

The draft documents include:

• Unit Lot Subdivision Fact Sheet (PDF)
• Residential Parking Fact Sheet (PDF)
• Impact Fees Fact Sheet (PDF)
• Neighborhood Commercial Fact Sheet (PDF)
• Co-Living Guidance (PDF)

These documents are posted on Commerce’s middle housing webpage.

  Please submit written comments using our online SmartSheet form linked below no later than by 5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 23, 2024.

• Attend a public webinar - Thursday, Dec. 5, 2024, 10 - 11:30 a.m.
  We will host a public webinar via Zoom to present the following:

  • Residential Parking Fact Sheet
  • Co-Living Guidance

Attendance at the webinar is not required to provide comments.

A recording of the webinar will be posted to the middle housing webpage during the public comment period, ending Dec. 23, 2024.
