For 18 years, U.N. forces have been stationed in Lebanon with the core directive to keep Hezbollah disarmed and to prevent terrorists from using the area as a safe haven from which to launch attacks on Israel.
But the U.N. has failed completely.
Just look at this map. It identifies nearly two dozen Hezbollah rocket launch sites found along the Israel-Lebanon border…many just meters from U.N. observation posts.
Beyond looking the other way as terrorists fired rockets from these positions, the U.N. also turned a blind eye as Hezbollah built massive military compounds directly beneath Lebanese villages.
Just last month, the IDF uncovered one compound that went 130-feet deep. Big enough to house an entire military company, it was equipped with bathrooms, showers and kitchens and was stocked with an arsenal of weapons, including explosives (pictured here).
Because of these U.N. failures, Israel is now operating in southern Lebanon to disarm Hezbollah and destroy its terror infrastructure.
Israelis deserve to live in peace and security, and not have to worry about the constant threat of a terrorist invasion.
The mission of AIPAC is to encourage and persuade the U.S. government to enact specific policies that create a strong, enduring and mutually beneficial relationship with our ally Israel.
