The Washington Post reports that, “Republicans are increasingly nervous they could lose control of the Senate this fall as a potent combination of a cratering economy, President Trump’s handling of the pandemic and rising enthusiasm among Democratic voters dims their electoral prospects.”

That’s right -- Republican senators like Susan Collins, who have gone all-in on Trump for his entire presidency, are now starting to see that bet turn sour.

But some top Republicans are telling their donors not to worry -- and that, since 90% of Americans approve of the CARES Act, Republicans can just take credit for the massive relief effort while downplaying the damage Trump has caused.
