Local High School Students Visit D.C.
Last week, I had the privilege of meeting with 16 high school students from our district who visited the Capitol through the Close Up Foundation program. These students came to Washington to learn about how our government works and to engage directly with their elected representatives.
During our discussion, we covered important issues that matter to their communities, including flooding and disaster preparedness, immigration policy, and my work on the Energy and Commerce Committee. Their thoughtful questions and observations demonstrated a deep interest in understanding how federal policies impact their lives and their future. I’m always encouraged to see young leaders taking an active role in these conversations—our democracy depends on their engagement.
Workout With a Vet
Last week at the Atascocita High School Football Field, I worked out alongside several veterans and JROTC students. The U.S. Army also landed one of their Black Hawk helicopters on a nearby field, showcasing one of our troops' most pivotal methods for entering and exiting the battlefield. Thanks to everyone who came out!

Veterans Affairs Healthcare
Remember, with VA health care, you’re covered for regular checkups with your primary care provider and appointments with specialists (like cardiologists, gynecologists, and mental health providers). You can access Veterans health care services like home health and geriatric (elder) care, and you can get medical equipment, prosthetics, and prescriptions. Find out how to apply for and manage the health care benefits you've earned. Visit the website for more information. If you need assistance with the VA, contact one of my District offices.
Making your holiday travel plans?
