I did masonry & carpentry & was one of only two women who did my job. I could physically see how different the men were when me & my best girl friend joined them outside the wire to do our jobs. I’m very proud of my service but I’m not proud that my presence made the men I loved dearly not mission ready because they were worried about keeping me safe instead of being focused on the mission.
