Thanksgiving is that special time of year when we put aside our busy lives to gather with loved ones, savor delicious food, and reflect on the many blessings we often take for granted. It’s a moment to appreciate not just the turkey on our plates, but the little things—the moments, the people, the joys—that truly make life worth living.
This Thanksgiving, I find myself feeling especially grateful for the people who mean the most to me. First and foremost, I’m thankful for my wonderful husband, Curt, and our two children, Jonathon and Taylor. They are the heartbeat of my life, and their support and love mean more to me than words can express. I’m also thankful for my extended family, whose presence, humor, and guidance always make our gatherings even more memorable.
Of course, Thanksgiving also reminds me of Iowa—the place I proudly call home. Iowans are hardworking, resilient people who are dedicated to their communities and to each other. Quite often, Iowans are giving their time and talent volunteering on this day bringing a warm meal and “family” to those without. It’s a privilege to represent this incredible district and state in Congress, and I’m endlessly thankful for the opportunity.
I could continue listing all the things I’m grateful for, but this holiday season, it’s crucial that we take a moment to express our thanks to our service members and veterans.
Many men and women in uniform, deployed overseas, won’t be able to spend time with their families this year, as they remain committed to protecting our country’s freedom and safety. Their sacrifice deserves our utmost respect. I want to wish a Happy Thanksgiving to every veteran, service member, and their families.
May your holiday be filled with love, joy, and the comforting reminder that, no matter the challenges, we are never alone.
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
