UPDATE: Four crucial Biden judicial nominees will not get Senate votes after all. Huffington Post reports this is part of a deal "cut by Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, independent Sens. Kyrsten Sinema (Ariz.) and Joe Manchin (W.Va.), and some Republicans."
One of the nominees would have ended the conservative majority on a powerful appellate court.
This unfortunate deal makes it even more imperative that the Senate do everything possible – even if it is inconvenient for some senators – to confirm DOZENS of federal judges and agency nominees while Democrats still have time.
EARLIER EMAIL:
In a Time Magazine op-ed, Senator Elizabeth Warren says, "What we do next is important, and I need you in this fight with me."
ELIZABETH WARREN: "While still in charge of the Senate and the White House, we must do all we can to safeguard our democracy...Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer must use every minute of the end-of-year legislative session to confirm federal judges and key regulators—none of whom can be removed by the next President."
Elizabeth Warren said, "Trump won the election, but more than 67 million people voted for Democrats and they don’t expect us to roll over and play dead."
Before Trump is sworn in, that means doing everything possible to confirm dozens of federal judges and nominees to agencies that cannot be removed by Trump.
We will keep reporters and allies apprised of public support on this petition, including Senator Elizabeth Warren and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer. Sign the petition here.
Thanks for being a bold progressive.
