John,

I’ve spent the last week in Washington attending orientation and training for new members of Congress – it feels like the first day of school.

Before I dive into all I’ve been up to, I want to give a huge thank you for helping get us to this point. We ran a people-powered campaign, and I’m committed to working hard and rolling up our sleeves in Washington to solve problems for CA-27.

I took part in my first press conference with the pragmatic New Democrat Coalition. Together, we’re working toward solutions that benefit us all.

Here I am with the incoming new member class of the 119th Congress!

I ran into neighbors Laura Friedman (CA-30) and Luz Rivas (CA-29) as we crossed our fingers for the House lottery! Did you know that new members of Congress are put into a literal lottery system to determine where our office will be?

I’m proud to be one of seven incoming members of Congress from the STEM field. Our background will prove valuable as we work to make our communities better.

Speaking of science, I ran into my friend Bill Nye at the Capitol!

It’s been an eventful week, and there’s more to come. I look forward to receiving my committee assignments and getting to work for you. I couldn’t be more thankful for your continued support as I transition into Congress.

Thank you,

George
