The International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, and a Hamas official, citing war crimes and crimes against humanity in the ongoing Gaza conflict. This bold move reinforces the ICC’s mission to defend human rights, even as over 44,000 lives have been lost in Gaza.
The ICC is standing up for human rights, as it was designed to do. It is shameful how the United States government—Democrats and Republicans alike, including President Biden—has responded to the ICC. President Biden has yet to grasp the situation in Gaza or come to terms with the responsibility of the U.S. government in aiding and abetting this genocide.
The ICC’s actions mark a critical step in holding leaders accountable for atrocities, but real justice requires global cooperation and moral courage. As the United States continues to shield its ally from accountability, it is imperative to demand a shift in policy that aligns with the principles of justice and human rights. The world is watching, and history will judge those who stand on the wrong side of humanity.
