Our clients, husband and wife Casey Mathieu and Melinda Antonucci, applied to be foster parents in Vermont. But the Department for Children and Families disqualified them from fostering because of their Christian beliefs.
Without knowing one more thing about this case, you can already see this is a blatant violation of this Christian family's First Amendment right to Freedom of Religion.
But when you hear more details, you'll see why this isn't just about the Mathieu-Antonucci family. This case has long-term consequences for you as well -- which is why we are asking you to sign the CITIZEN SUPPORT FOR RELIGIOUS LIBERTY petition right away.
Specifically, the Mathieu-Antonucci family and the Vermont Department for Children and Families are at odds because the Mathieu-Antonuccis refuse to go along with radical transgender ideology.
The family made it clear they would welcome ANY child into their home with love and care -- including a child confused about his or her gender.
But the Mathieu-Antonucci family also made it clear that their faith precludes them from: using preferred pronouns, overseeing the prescription of cross-sex hormones, or aiding in any way with a child in their care being mutilated through sex-change surgeries like double mastectomies.
And so Vermont REFUSES to place ANY children in their home.
In fact, the Vermont's Department of Children and Families revoked the Matheiu-Antonucci family's foster care license.
Government radicals are choosing to let children go without homes or be placed in homes run by drag queens, rather than have them raised by Christians.
Not only is this non-sensical -- the traditional family has been the backbone of society for over 2 millennia and the belief that men are men and women are women has never been questioned in all of history.
It's also unconstitutional -- our Founding Fathers intentionally named Freedom of Religion the first freedom of the First Amendment for a reason.
They understood that your right to live according to your faith is the underpinning of ALL freedom.
But today's radicals don't believe in Freedom of Religion unless that religion is atheism. Then they bend over backwards to protect the rights of those who reject God and Godly values.
