Friends, Indiana’s making progress. When Governor Holcomb laid out his Back on Track plan earlier this month, he told us about four guiding principles that he’d be watching along the way – letting the data drive his decisions. And so far, the data is showing positive movement – - Hospitalizations – the number of Hoosiers hospitalized with COVID-19 has dropped from 170 on April 1 to 71 on May 12.
- Surge Capacity – As of just yesterday, 40% of Indiana’s ICU beds are available, and ventilator availability is remaining steady at 80%.
- Testing – More than 170 testing sites are available throughout Indiana, including 50 free testing sites administered by the Indiana State Department of Health. Find a site near you here.
- Contact Tracing – More than 500 Hoosiers are currently working as contact tracers – doctors, nurses, epidemiologists, medical students and more. They’re working daily tracking and limiting the spread of this virus. And remember, your information always remains private.
With this progress, we’re now just 18 days away from Indiana’s June 2 primary election. You should definitely make sure you exercise your right to vote – and you have a choice on how you vote: - Voting Absentee By Mail – For this election, any Hoosier can choose to vote absentee. But make sure you request your ballot by Thursday, May 21. You can even request your ballot online at IndianaVoters.in.gov.
- Voting Early In-Person – Early in-person voting begins on May 26. Check IndianaVoters.in.gov to make sure you know your polling place and hours.
- Voting on Primary Day – Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on June 2.
And know that if you choose to vote in person, the state has acquired the supplies necessary to keep our polling places clean and our poll workers safe – - 5,000 gallons of hand sanitizer
- 10,000 refillable bottles
- Over 4,000 gallons of disinfectant cleaner for voting machines and electronic poll books
- 10,000 refillable spray bottles
- 85,000 microfiber cloths
- Over 300,000 pairs of disposable gloves
- 200,000 facemasks
- 25,000 face shields
- Over 3,500 acrylic sneeze guards
We’re making progress, and there’s a lot to look forward to Indiana. But only through your continued efforts will Indiana continue these advances in getting back on track. #BackOnTrack, -Your Holcomb Crew | | | | | | | Paid for by Eric Holcomb for Indiana. © Copyright 2020.
