Dear John,

[BREAKING] The Senate has passed the crucial Uyghur Human Rights Policy Act to sanction Chinese officials for the detention and torture of over one million Uyghur Muslims

WHAT'S HAPPENING:
At this very moment, there are over one million Uyghur Muslims forcefully detained in China, facing abuse, torture, flagrant denile of of the right to life and genocide. The Chinese government is committing gross crimes against humanity with the systematic crackdown of their Muslim population, and they will do anything to quash criticism from its diaspora around the world. Elsoy, a doctor exiled in Finland, uses social media to raise awareness about the abuses the Uyghur community faces in China. "In the beginning I feared China's retaliation, but after both my parents being detained and repeatedly seeing China denying the detention of Uyghurs, I thought I had nothing to lose."

WHAT HAVE WE DONE:
As our leaders turn a blind eye, Emgage, our partners, and supporters like you raised awareness around this issue and succeeded in getting S. 3744, the Uyghur Human Rights Policy Act of 2020, passed though the Senate YESTERDAY!

OUR ASK:
Our goal now is to swiftly pass this bill in the House, ensuring that America stands on the right side of history. Our work, and the work of many of our partners, has been possible only through generous contributions and support from advocates like YOU! So, this Ramadan, please give a gift of $30 to Emgage as we continue to push for legislation to hold the Chinese government accountable and make a stand for the Uyghurs and other Muslim minorities in China. Time is running out.

In solidarity,

Wa'el Alzayat
