Friend,
We had some good news when Matt Gaetz withdrew yesterday from
consideration to serve as US Attorney General. As Abraham Lincoln once
said, ". . . public sentiment is everything. With it, nothing can
fail; against it, nothing can succeed." The public pressure stemming
from Gaetz's alleged sexual misconduct and lack of qualifications was
a major factor in the failure of Trump to get Gaetz
confirmed.
The Attorney General of the United
States is one of the most critical positions in our government,
charged with upholding the rule of law and ensuring justice for all
Americans. This role requires unimpeachable integrity, a commitment to
fairness, and a deep respect for the
Constitution.
We need leaders in positions of
power who will unite, not divide. That’s why I will continue to fight
for justice, accountability, and a government that works for everyone.
While some of Trump's nominations may feel frightening, my colleagues
and I remain ready to fight extremism every step of the way. Let’s
continue this fight together.
Thanks for all you
have done and continue to do.
Ted
