We want to hear your holiday wish to end gun violence this year.
Fellow Advocate,
On Wednesday, I asked you to send in your holiday wish for a life free of gun violence. So many of you responded with urgent, poignant wishes for peace and stories of lost loved ones.
I wanted to share a brief one with you, from Marge in Aston (Delaware County). Marge lost her grandson, Nick Elizalde, when he was gunned down during a high school football game in September 2022. His mother Meredith, Marge's daughter, is one of our Deadly by Design survivors.1
Marge writes, "Nick – I wish I could see the man you would have become. Love, Grandmom."
The holidays are right around the corner and I wanted to let you in on this year’s theme for our holiday campaign. This year, we’re focused on something personal, but universal – something I very much hope you can help us with.
So many of us have personal stories of how gun violence can shatter our lives and make holidays feel heavy. But when we come together and share these difficult stories, we can build a movement strong enough to counter the gun lobby and make some of our wishes come true.
Dr. Elinore wishes for an ER free of gunshot wounds. Cayla wishes to come home from college in Connecticut to a Philadelphia neighborhood free from gun violence. Tom wishes his daughter could spend one more Christmas with her best friend who was gunned down while walking his dog.
