Hi there, John.
I wanted to send a quick update from Washington, where I’m excited to be attending New Congressmember Orientation.
It's been humbling, and a bit surreal: stepping in the Capitol for the first time knowing that I'll be taking votes and advocating on behalf of our community. I’m already trying to find common ground that we can build on regardless of party affiliation. Because above all, I’m psyched to be getting ready to work for YOU!
I am proud to be stepping in on day one as a member of the Progressive Caucus, and I’m already making friends with incredible, inspirational freshmen legislators who are determined to improve our communities.
And even though I got a “terrible” draw at the freshmen room selection lottery, anything with my name on the door will be an honor.
But this isn’t about me – I'd like to stress again that I would not be here without your support. The time, energy, and resources you gave are why we now have this opportunity to make progress on the issues that matter to the 30th District, and protect against far-right overreach.
I still can’t believe that I’m going to be part of the 119th Congress. Thank you all for this honor.
More soon,
Laura
