Democrat,
In New Jersey, Democrats successfully supported the election of leaders, including Nellie Pou, who is the first Latina to represent the 9th Congressional District. Herb Conaway, elected to the 3rd Congressional District, enters Congress twenty years after his initial campaign. Both have made significant contributions in the state legislature and will continue their work at the national level. We are excited to have LaMonica McIver join our congressional delegation for a full term to continue to champion for policies that promote affordability, equity, and environmental sustainability, ensuring that no one is left behind.
Additionally, Andy Kim achieved a historic milestone as the first Korean American elected to the Senate. As a third-term congressman, he will advocate for key issues such as small business support, job creation, and family healthcare.

On November 18th, Governor Murphy signed law S912/A388, mandating that healthcare professionals offer postpartum planning sessions to pregnant patients as early as their first trimester. These sessions will address the unique needs of patients. Additionally, healthcare facilities providing maternity care must supply postpartum care information to all patients, including those who have experienced stillbirth or pregnancy loss. This law aims to improve continuity of care and patient knowledge while building on existing postpartum care initiatives through Nurture NJ.
“New Jersey has made significant progress over the last seven years in our work to reduce maternal and infant mortality, and our efforts have shown how increased care continuity and access to information can improve outcomes for families across our state,” Governor Murphy said. “Today’s action will ensure our health professionals are empowering pregnant patients and new families with information and resources to stay healthy, identify postpartum risks, and reach care after the end of a pregnancy.”
The G20 Summit annual forum this year was held in Rio de Janeiro where the Biden Administration maintained the legacy of American leadership while strengthening foreign partnerships. During this summit, President Biden rallied fellow leaders to invest in developing countries, tackle global health threats, and champion an inclusive digital transformation. President Biden also called for peace and stability around the world, reaffirming the support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and of a cease-fire deal in the Middle East.
President Biden and Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula de Silva announced a new Brazil-U.S. Partnership for Energy Transition aimed at accelerating clean energy development, decarbonizing the manufacturing and industrial sectors, and expanding energy and mineral supply chains. The leaders also discussed international issues, including the crises in Venezuela and Haiti, calling for an end to political repression in Venezuela and praising Kenya's efforts to improve security in Haiti. They reaffirmed their commitment to democratic institutions and the rule of law, both at home and abroad.
