Friend –
I am thrilled to share, as reported in POLITICO yesterday, that one of the most respected military leaders of our time, former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Mike Mullen will serve as the new Chair of USGLC’s National Advisory Council. He will pick up the torch from the late General Colin Powell, who served with enormous distinction in this role for more than 15 years until his passing.
Admiral Mullen’s lifetime of patriotic service, and dedication serving both Republican and Democratic Administrations, makes him uniquely qualified to lead our National Advisory Council—made up of bipartisan former Secretaries of State and Defense, Congressional leadership, and other national security luminaries who provide USGLC with strategic guidance in this moment of rising global threats.
I am confident that Admiral Mullen’s leadership will help us better articulate why our engagement in the world is not just a nice-to-have, but a strategic imperative that advances our own security, prosperity, and values. And as he said in our press release, “the stakes for America on the global stage have rarely been higher.”
If you’re as excited as I am by Admiral Mullen’s new role, please share with your networks on X or LinkedIn.
Wishing you a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday.
Warmly,
Liz
