John,
Yesterday, the Republican-controlled House passed H.R. 9495, a bill that would give Donald Trump power to shut down nonprofits he doesn't like under the guise of fighting “terrorism”. In reality, the measure would allow him to crush dissent and target political opponents.
We know that Color Of Change likely will be a direct target of Trump’s second administration. In addition to facing previous attacks from Trump himself, we’ve been a target of neo-segregationist Stephen Miller and his right-wing group America First Legal. With Miller serving as Trump’s deputy chief of staff for policy, our work will be under intense scrutiny from day one of the incoming administration.
We’re back in the crosshairs of Trump’s efforts to suppress the voices of those who oppose him. Rush a donation to our Rapid Response Fund to help us prepare for the right-wing attacks aimed at interrupting our work to fight for racial justice!

The “Nonprofit Killer Bill” would grant the Trump Administration unchecked authority to revoke the 501(c)(3) status of any nonprofit it opposes, without transparency or due process, merely by claiming — without evidence — that the organization is linked to terrorism.
We already saw the last Trump administration define groups like Color Of Change that care about racial justice as “Black Identity Extremist" organizations and place a target squarely on our back.
Color Of Change and other organizations advocating for Black people must be in a position to mobilize and push back against the hate and anti-Black policies of the incoming administration. We will continue to fight against this legislation as it now heads to the U.S. Senate. Chip in now to help us defend our organization so that we can continue to protect our communities from harm!

We’re grateful for your support in this critical moment.
