Control of the Virginia state Senate is up for grabs in January’s special election, folks.

I know this feels like a fast turnaround following the general election, but the reality is, with a Republican trifecta in Washington, it’s more important than ever that we elect Democrats at the state level who will fight back against the GOP’s dangerous agenda.

Right now, Democrats in the state Senate hold a razor-thin 21-19 majority. That means if Kannan Srinivasan loses his race in the 32nd district, Republicans will take control of the chamber.

So I’m asking: will you split a donation of $10 or more between me and Kannan Srinivasan so he can win next year and keep the Virginia state Senate blue?

If we want to keep moving Virginia forward in the face of national Republican obstruction, we need to hold on to our Democratic majority. I know Kannan Srinivasan is the right candidate to get it done – he has been a steadfast leader in the Virginia House of Delegates working to protect women’s reproductive rights, expand affordable health care, and strengthen public education.

I’m counting on this grassroots team to help me send Kannan to the state Senate in January so he can protect their single seat majority and Democrats can be the brick wall against the resurgence of Trump-era extremism.
