Dear John,
I hope you all had a great week! This week I helped pass a bipartisan bill, the Senator Elizabeth Dole 21st Century Veterans Healthcare and Benefits Improvement Act, which will increase veterans’ access to health care and workforce opportunities. Congressional action to expand access to in-home care for aging and severely ill veterans is long overdue. Veterans deserve access to the care that’s best for their individual needs and this bill will expand options for in-home care – cutting down on potentially strenuous trips to the VA – and put critical health care decisions back into veterans’ hands. This bipartisan bill also supports the transition from service to civilian life by increasing workforce and education opportunities. Many veterans struggle with this transition and helping them develop the skills they need to be competitive for 21st century jobs to support their post-service life is critical to their success. We can never thank our veterans enough for their service and dedication to our national security, but I will continue to support commonsense, bipartisan legislation like the Senator Elizabeth Dole 21st Century Veterans Healthcare and Benefits Improvement Act, to better support them both during and after their service.
Here’s what else I was up to this week:
Protecting Minnesota’s natural resources
On Wednesday, I met with youth environmental protection advocates in my DC office to discuss how we can keep working to protect Minnesota’s Boundary Waters and ensure they stay pristine for future generations.
Behind the scenes with Rep. Craig:
While DC got 60 degree weather this week, Minnesota turned into a winter wonderland! Excited for more snowy days this winter.
I hope you all have a great week!
Until next time,
Angie Craig
Member of Congress
