John, we did it!

Moments ago, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation
released its long awaited decision on a key permit for the Williams
fracked gas pipeline in NYC.

Not only did they deny the permit, but the company cannot reapply again
– which means the project is stopped for good!

[ [link removed] ]Can you take a moment now to celebrate and share this news? We need to
signal to the world that the era of fossil fuels is coming to an end – and
we could all use some good news right now!

The Williams Company has been fighting for years to get this 23 mile long
pipeline from Pennsylvania into New York City approved to transport dirty
fracked gas.

Last spring, Trump issued an executive order to try to speed up its
approval. New York denied the permit for the pipeline in May 2019, but the
company promptly reapplied. Today’s final denial is a huge blow not only
to Williams, but to all fossil fuel companies and the elected officials
they’ve bought off across the country.

This campaign has been hard-fought and it was only possible because of all
of you. Thanks to the leadership of The Stop Williams Coalition (which
350.org is part of), thousands of people across New York and the rest of
the country battled it out for years to make this moment possible.

Tens of thousands of comments, emails, phone calls, and letters were sent
to decision makers. Dozens and dozens of elected officials at all levels
of government were pressured to take a stand against this risky pipeline
that would drive more climate pollution and threaten our waterways.

Hundreds of thousands rallied and protested and took action in the
streets. From the massive Climate Strike in NYC last September, to smaller
protests at public hearings and the offices of elected officials including
Governor Cuomo.

It's slim pickings for good news these days. And it is important to
remember that beyond the current health crisis, we are still facing down
the climate crisis. It’s through the power of people that we will continue
to stop more fossil fuel projects like this one across the country.

[ [link removed] ]Please help share the good news and help us bring more people into the
next big fight.

Thank you so much for all that you contributed to this campaign.

When we fight, we win.

Dominique

P.S. These campaigns take years to win. We depend on grassroots donations
to power these fights. [ [link removed] ]Can you chip in $5, $15, or $50 to help power
our next big pipeline fight?
