With a few weeks to go until the new Congress and Trump are sworn in, the Democratic Senate majority is working tirelessly to confirm every Biden judicial nominee to a lifetime appointment on the federal bench.

As of yesterday, we’ve confirmed 221 judges to the bench . These nominees under the Biden-Harris administration are some of the best we’ve had – they look more like America and understand what the American experience truly is.

I have served on the Senate Judiciary Committee for more than two decades. During that time, I’ve evaluated and voted on more than one thousand judicial nominees in the Committee and on the Senate floor. And in my opinion, the record is clear: President Biden’s nominees to the federal bench represent the best of the judiciary and our country. They are highly qualified and professionally and demographically diverse.

But our work is not done. Any unfilled vacancy gives the incoming Trump Administration another opportunity to nominate and confirm right-wing ideologues. And Trump is calling on Republican senators to “Show Up and Hold the Line” by not confirming any more judges before his inauguration.

The Senate must confirm as many of the Biden administration’s highly qualified, diverse nominees as possible before the sun sets on the 118th Congress.
