Welcome back to my newsletter

Last week I was busy representing the UK at two international summits in the Middle East. there's a lot we can learn from nations around the world, and it was great to meet with so many health ministers and professionals.

This week I've been busy in my ministerial role, taking pressing health questions in the house, leading the debate on the infected blood inquiry and speaking in an adjournment debate on healthcare in the UK.

Qatar: 7th World Innovation Summit for Health

Last week I was in Qatar representing the UK at the World Innovation Summit for Health.

The summit brought together health innovators across AI, data, genomics, life sciences and medical practice together to share best practice and to learn how we can all improve our healthcare systems and patient outcomes.

The Government is pledging a shift from an analogue NHS to a digital one, there’s a lot we can learn from other parts of the world. It was also my pleasure to contribute to the Ethics and AI panel discussion at the summit.
Movember & International Men's Day

Tuesday marked international Men's day, and it was great to catch-up with Movember UK to talk about the upcoming Men's Health Summit.

It's so important that men feel able to discuss their health, and that these issues aren't overlooked.

Infected Blood Inquiry

On Tuesday I led the debate on the Infected Blood Inquiry, updating the House on what the Government is doing to see those affected receive proper compensation.

I am personally, and my department is collectively, sorry. We have let down the infected and the affected in this terrible scandal. We must never, ever, let anything like this happen again.

You can watch my full contribution above.
