All of us – anyone who put their heart,
their hopes, and their labor into this election – deserves time. Time to
process, to sit with our heartbreak, and to be in community with people we
love. Time to do something that brings us joy. Because the road ahead is
long. The reality is we are facing another four years of Donald Trump — a
man who has spent his life dividing us.

Project 2025 wasn’t just a threat. No, it was a promise. A plan to
dismantle the federal government and come for our freedoms and our rights.
I don’t need to tell you the impact we’re bracing for. You’ve seen the
news. The threat of mass deportations, the promises to defund our public
schools, the attacks to reproductive freedom, and deep damage to our
democracy.

The second Trump administration is shaping up to be chaos. He’s
surrounding himself with unqualified loyalists, people he knows he can
count on to carry out his dangerous plans.

Yes, we’re all tired. But we must keep our eyes on the
prize. I
often say that every successful movement requires three things:
imagination, strategy, and stamina.

Our North Star hasn’t changed. We know a better world is possible, and
we’re bold enough to imagine what it could look like. The next four years
may require  new strategies. And it’ll certainly take stamina. We have to
dig deep. But the one thing we cannot lose is faith.

In moments like these, I turn to poetry and literature to help me see the
bigger picture of this movement that we’re building together – to grasp
the language to express how we can carry this work forward. Coretta Scott
King once said: “Struggle is a never-ending process. Freedom is never
really won. You earn it and win it in every generation,” — and we have no
choice but to win.

No matter what they throw our way, I will be here. I will never stop
fighting for our collective liberation. For reproductive freedom, for the
liberation of Black and brown people, for queer liberation, for those
behind the wall, for our immigrant neighbors, for our elders, for anyone
who has been left out and left behind.

[ [link removed] ]I hope you will be right there fighting with me.

Onward,

Ayanna
