I’m thrilled to share that the US Senate has passed the Autism CARES Act of 2024 – the only federal law solely dedicated to meeting the needs of people with autism and their families. This milestone wouldn’t have been possible without your support.

Programs under the Autism CARES Act enhance the quality of life of autistic people and expand our ability to provide effective and quality services for people with autism and their families through research, data and training.

This iteration of the law builds upon two decades of progress and adds new elements that will increase focus on supporting: 

• Older and aging autistic adults, 
• Autistic individuals who require 24-hour care and may struggle with harmful or self-injurious behaviors, 
• Access to communication tools and technologies for autistic people who are non-speaking or have limited speech, 
• The mental health of autistic individuals, and 
• Families affected by provider shortages, including developmental-behavioral pediatricians.

The next step is critical: the bill now has to move back to the US House of Representatives for final approval before reaching the President’s desk. We need your voice one more time. Join us in urging the House to act quickly and pass this bill without delay. Ask the US House of Representatives to quickly pass this bill.
