Scallops

Good afternoon,

The Department of Marine Resources is sharing notification of the installation of the Isle au Haut Fiber Optic Cable.

This subsea fiber optic cable was placed in an existing cable area running between Stonington, Deer Isle and Isle au Haut. See chart attached.

Installation date was November 10th, 2024 and it will take time for this cable to fully settle into the mud/silt bottom.

This notice is to information scallop draggers that the active cable area contains both the island power cable in addition to the newly placed fiber optic cable and to please avoid dragging near the designated cable area.
