When I talk to my kids now and my grandbabies in the future about the 2020 election, I want to be able to say with certainty that we did everything we could to get our democracy back on track.
The Trump presidency will not just be a page in a history book that we overlook. Instead, it will be a reminder of some of the deepest struggles and stains in this country that we must prevent from existing ever again.
In my vision of the future, we will have reached political equity where our communities are heard, our leaders advocate for the people, and bigotry is no longer the driving force. It’s that vision that keeps me going. Every day when I get out of bed, I remind myself that we need to fight hard not just for us -- but for future generations.
