Trump chooses loyalist Pam Bondi for attorney general pick after Matt Gaetz withdraws
The MAGA cult leader swapped out one Florida loyalist for another, tapping former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi to lead the Justice Department. Bondi has been an outspoken defender of Trump, particularly since receiving a $25,000 bribe campaign contribution from him in 2013 which definitely played no role in swaying her opinion later when she was part of an investigation into rampant fraud at the now-defunct Trump University. Bondi was also one of his lawyers during his first impeachment trial, when he was accused of abusing his power as he tried to condition US military assistance to Ukraine on that country investigating then-former Vice President Joe Biden. And she was among a group of Republicans who showed up to support the 78-year-old con man at his porn star hush money criminal trial that ended in May with a conviction on 34 felony counts. AND on top of all that, she just so happens to be the sister of Elon Musk's securities fraud lawyer and is in prime position to shut down that investigation. Neat!

VIDEO OF THE DAY: Matt Gaetz gets more bad news from Senate Democrats
The now-former congressman and now-former nominee for attorney general has had a very bad week, and the days ahead don't look much brighter. Brian Tyler Cohen sat down with Democratic Sen. Amy Klobuchar to discuss what lies ahead for the most insufferable man inside the beltway.
BTC leads collective of progressive creators with plan to take back the internet from Joe Rogan and the right-wing machine
Chorus: This election has made it painfully clear that Democrats' messages are just not getting through the tsunami of right-wing propaganda and lies flooding through social media, and we have no real answer to a Joe Rogan or a Ben Shapiro...until now! Trump’s Pentagon pick Hegseth wrote of US military taking sides in "civil war"
Hegseth, a weekend Fox & Friends host credibly accused of sexual assault, once wrote that a Democratic victory in 2020 would result in "some form of civil war," suggesting that there would be a "national divorce” in which the military and police would be "forced to make a choice." But wait, there's (always) more! Hegseth’s 2020 book also exhorted conservatives to undertake "an AMERICAN CRUSADE" to "mock, humiliate, intimidate, and crush our leftist opponents." Definitely sounds like the kind of guy to lead the Department of frickin' Defense.

"Profound fear and anxiety among women in uniform": Pentagon reacts to allegations against Hegseth
The release of a police report with graphic details of sexual assault allegations against Pete Hegseth is understandably stoking concerns among current and former Defense Department officials that the agency could backslide on efforts to put an end to those abuses in the military. Officials fear that Hegseth, whose nomination had already caused controversy due to his opposition to women serving in combat, could also hurt efforts to recruit women into the military. In 2017, a woman told police that Hegseth sexually assaulted her after barring the door to her hotel room and seizing her cell phone. The police report was released to the media on Thursday. Hegseth, who has repeatedly denied wrongdoing, was never charged, but he did quietly pay the alleged victim off last year to stymy an imminent lawsuit.

Putin touts Russia’s new missile and delivers a menacing warning to NATO
The new ballistic missile fired by Russia struck a military-industrial facility in the central Ukrainian city of Dnipro, but its real mission was delivering a deadly new message to NATO. Hours after Thursday’s strike touched off a debate over whether the Ukrainian plant was hit by an intercontinental ballistic missile, President Vladimir Putin made a rare and surprise appearance on Russian television to clear up the mystery. He described it as a new, intermediate-range ballistic missile that raced to its target at 10 times the speed of sound. The attack marked the first time that such a missile was used in the war — or in any conflict.

Arkansas GOP Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders proposes new budget with huge spending increase for school vouchers
Trump's former disseminator of bunk information and current Republican governor of Arkansas called for increasing the state's budget by nearly 3%, or $182.5 million, in the fiscal year that begins July 1, with $90 million earmarked for the state's so-called "education freedom accounts" — which direct funds away from public schools (available to all students) and toward private school and homeschool expenses (which benefit approximately 12% of students). Someone please make it make sense, because it definitely does not add up.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. utterly shreds Donald Trump with Hitler line in resurfaced audio
The anti-vaxx conspiracy theorist and roadkill collector once damned President-elect Donald Trump with a comparison to Adolf Hitler and called him a horrible president in newly resurfaced audio, in an incident strikingly similar to one that dogged the MAGA cult leader's vice president-elect, JD Vance. Sensing a theme here...
Nancy Mace tears down trans bathroom posters and throws them in trash in response to bill protest
Yet another reminder that the primary objective of nearly every Republican politician is attention, no matter the cost or the harm they cause to other people. Three days into a media controversy of her own creation, Mace is still pulling silly stunts, still fishing for headlines, and still a bigot.
