DOGE Caucus

Image
Fox News covered the creation of the DOGE Caucus

This week, Congressman Aaron Bean (FL-04) and I launched a new caucus, the Delivering Outstanding Government Efficiency (DOGE) Caucus. We will be dedicated to eliminating the rampant waste, fraud, and abuse in the federal government working alongside President Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency. As Chairman of the Subcommittee on Government Operations and the Federal Workforce, it has been my priority to identify and stop ongoing waste, fraud, and abuse in our government. According to a report from the GAO, there has been over $2.7 trillion in fraud and improper payments since 2003. This is an absolutely unacceptable misuse of taxpayer dollars. Hardworking Americans deserve a government that works efficiently and effectively. The DOGE Caucus will work alongside Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy to reclaim our country and ensure fiscal responsibility in our government.

Oversight of FEMA

Congressman Sessions questions Administrator Criswell
On Tuesday, FEMA Administrator Criswell came before the House Oversight Committee to answer for claims of FEMA withholding disaster assistance from Americans advertising President Trump. It is intolerable to think that any American would be denied disaster aid on account of political alignment. FEMA should work for all Americans without delay. In the hearing, it became clear that FEMA has an issue with transparency. In speaking with constituents in my district to victims of the most expensive fire in our country in Maui, HI, I heard how FEMA has become a complex bureaucratic system that is difficult to navigate. Transparency in the organization would ensure Americans that have been through a disaster do not have to worry about facing discrimination by political operatives within FEMA and will receive the aid they need in a timely manner. See my remarks here.

McLennan Community College

Congressman Sessions speaks to students from MCC in his DC office
Always great to speak with students of TX-17! A group of students in a political science class at McLennan Community College stopped by my office yesterday during their visit to the U.S. Capitol. Hearing from these bright young minds reminded me that our future is in good hands. It is up to us today to ensure that those tomorrow inherit a country that works effectively and efficiently.

Service Academy Interviews

Image
Congressman Sessions in Waco conducting interviews last weekend

Last weekend, I spent time in Pflugerville and Central Texas conducting interviews of those within TX-17 seeking my nomination for appointment into one of our nation’s service academies. This weekend, I will be doing the same in Huntsville and Lufkin. I look forward to speaking with more of TX-17’s best and brightest! It is one of my greatest privileges as a Member of Congress to have the opportunity to nominate exceptional young men and women from our communities to be considered for a highly competitive spot in a service academy.

Legislation Highlights

H.R. 1449→ Committing Leases for Energy Access Now (CLEAN) Act
This legislation amends the Geothermal Steam Act of 1970 to require the Secretary of the Interior to hold lease sales annually for geothermal energy. Currently, geothermal resources account for around 4 gigawatts of electricity capacity in the United States. This bill provides the geothermal energy industry with the opportunity for increased development and encourage American-made energy sources.

NEWSMAXAmerican Agenda
Prior to the testimony of FEMA Administrator Criswell at the House Oversight Committee, I joined the American Agenda to discuss the top-down issue of politicization leading to exclusion of many Americans.

Fox News'DOGE' meets Congress: GOP lawmaker launches caucus to help Musk take on 'Crazytown’
A new caucus has been formed aimed at assisting President Trump's Department of Government Efficiency in their mission of reducing waste, fraud, and abuse in the federal government. Congressman Bean and I are the now co-chairs of the Delivering Outstanding Government Efficiency (DOGE) Caucus.

The HillTrump signals use of military for deportations
In response to nervousness about deportations under the coming Trump Administration, I told The Hill that President Trump is assembling a team that will create a plan to carry out the law. I do not foresee a the enactment of mandate to go around and haul people out but rather a systematic plan that will be followed.

Sincerely,
