We are just one week away from the general election on the 29th of November 2024. This important election will decide who represents you for the next five years! We need to ensure that there are men and women of courage and conviction who will speak up for life in the next Dáil!

On Monday, two pro-life leaders, Peadar Tóibín (Aontú) and Michael Collins (Independent Ireland) gave strong performances at the Leaders’ Debate.

There are many pro-life candidates standing across the country and it’s important that pro-life voters use their votes wisely and effectively, including making full use of their preferences to ensure we have the best possible profile of candidates elected.

We haven’t heard much about the abortion issue in the media during this election campaign, but don’t let the silence imply that the parties aren’t interested in this issue. During the last Dáil term the three-year review was being pushed heavily by pro-abortion lobby groups (many of whom are taxpayer funded) to radically overhaul what is already an extreme law. We need to make sure that candidates placing themselves before the electorate give clear commitments on the important life issues (including abortion and euthanasia) so as not to mislead the public.

With just one week to go, we are asking that people who are interested in canvassing for a pro-life candidate in their area get started immediately. If you can give an evening or a few hours, it can make a big difference.

Sign up to canvass on our website and we will connect you with the pro-life candidates in your area. The smallest “canvass” starts at home – ask your family and friends to consider voting for candidates who also align with pro-life values. And don’t forget to SHARE the comprehensive voter guide widely. Thank you.

** Biden awards Medal of Freedom to Ex Planned Parenthood CEO
------------------------------------------------------------

On Wednesday, US President Joe Biden awarded Cecile Richards, the former CEO of Planned Parenthood, with the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Planned Parenthood is the largest abortion provider in the US and is responsible for the deaths of millions of unborn babies.

The Presidential Medal of Freedom is the highest civilian award of the United States, alongside the Congressional Gold Medal. According to the Washington Times "the ceremony was not listed on Mr Biden’s public schedule, nor was his decision to award the medal to Ms Richards publicly announced until after the presentation.”

In his tribute to Richards at the ceremony, Biden described the radical abortion activist as “a leader of the utmost character” who "with absolute courage and conviction fearlessly leads us forward to be the America we say we are — a nation of freedom." Previous recipients of the Presidential Medal of Freedom include Rosa Parks and Mother Teresa.

Biden's decision to award Richards with such a high-ranking honour is a disgrace. Most people in Ireland are oblivious to just how extreme the outgoing president is on abortion given the fawning media coverage he has received here over the past four years, including on his 2023 trip to Ireland. Hopefully some people will reevaluate their support for him after this latest troubling decision, taken in the closing days of his presidency.
