One down.

Earlier today, Matt Gaetz withdrew himself from consideration to be Donald
Trump’s next Attorney General.

There’s no shortage of reasons why he should never have been an option for
chief law enforcement officer of the United States. So many people raised
so many alarm bells about his nomination. And now it’s over.

I want you to remember this: Donald Trump’s word is not final. His
plans are not inevitable. He can’t get every single thing he wants, and he
can’t get every single Cabinet member of his dreams.

We still have power when we raise our voices.

I will keep calling out the rest of Donald Trump’s awful Cabinet choices.

Like Robert F. Kennedy Jr. — who poses a danger to public health,
scientific research, medicine, and health care coverage for millions as
the nominee to be Secretary of Health and Human Services. He wants to stop
parents from protecting their babies from measles and his ideas would
welcome the return of polio.

And Dr. Oz — a former daytime talk show host and a rich guy who doesn’t
care if your health care costs go up, doesn’t care if an insurance company
denies you coverage, and has no business running Medicare and Medicaid.

And Linda McMahon — an unqualified, billionaire wrestling mogul whose
selection to be Secretary of Education is an insult to our teachers and
every kid who relies on a good public school education.

And Howard Lutnick — a Wall Street CEO whose nomination to be Secretary of
Commerce is a win for the billionaire class at the expense of working
people.

And Pete Hegseth — a Fox & Friends weekend co-host who is not qualified to
be Secretary of Defense and would make us less safe and less respected.

We might not be able to win every fight, but we can’t win if we don’t
fight.

During Trump’s first term, Senate Democrats gave no quarter to radical
Trump nominees. We asked tough questions and held the Senate floor for
hours to slow down confirmation and expose Republican extremism. These
tactics doomed some nominations entirely, laid the groundwork for other
cabinet officials to later resign in disgrace, and brought scrutiny that
somewhat constrained Trump’s efforts. We’ve been down this road before —
and I’m ready to go down it again.

[ [link removed] ]I will keep doing everything I can to fight back against Donald Trump
and his allies’ devastating vision for our government and our nation. I
know you’ve got lots of ways of staying involved too — and I never expect you to donate every
time I ask — but if and only if it makes sense for you right now, please
consider pitching in a donation to help keep up the fight.

Thanks for being a part of this,

Elizabeth
