As a longtime advocate and business owner in Ely, I know that some places are just too important – we can’t allow the most toxic industry in the United States next to our most-visited Wilderness. That is why I am reaching out to ask if you will join me in supporting Save the Boundary Waters.
This Wilderness has meant everything to my family and me. When Nancy and I moved here in 1979, we founded Piragis Northwoods Co. and became part of this community. We’ve loved getting to know our neighbors and customers, and we’ve witnessed the impact this Wilderness has had on all of us—business owners, outdoor enthusiasts, and families alike.
But today, this special place is under serious threat from proposed sulfide-ore copper mining near the Boundary Waters. This toxic industry would devastate the Wilderness that supports countless businesses — including my own.
We can’t let that happen. Right now, your gift will be DOUBLED through a flash match of $50,000 from Manitou Fund. Every dollar you donate today goes twice as far, strengthening our efforts to protect the Boundary Waters for generations to come.
Will you join me today in making a gift to save the Boundary Waters?
