Antisemitic Attacks in Europe Are A Dire Warning to Jews in US. We May Be Next.

[link removed]
[An op-ed by ADL CEO Jonathan Greenblatt, excerpted from USA Today]

Raging antisemitism in Europe this month has been whitewashed with ridiculous labels like “hooliganism” or “violence tied to a soccer game.” Let’s put an end to the gaslighting.

This antisemitic violence is what “globalize the intifada” — a call for worldwide violence against Jews and Israelis — looks like, and it’s spreading like wildfire across Europe. …

In the United States, it began with campus protests. Then it extended to faux wanted posters and red triangles defacing synagogues and homes. Now, months later, what remains are the core organizations that openly embrace the hate-filled, violent ideologies of Hamas, the Iranian regime and Hezbollah.

As history has shown us time and time again, antisemitism starts with the Jews — but never ends with the Jews. It is a virus that eventually will sicken entire societies. It will destroy everything in its path.

Coexistence Progress in Abu Dhabi: ADL’s George Selim and Carole Nuriel traveled to Abu Dhabi last week to participate in the first Manara Center annual event showcasing projects done by students from Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Pakistan, Israel and Nigeria. They were joined at the event by diplomats, academics and community leaders. This was a great milestone for the Manara Center, which was founded in 2023 to promote peace and coexistence. ADL has been a flagship partner since day one, bringing our expertise in combating the roots of antisemitism and hate of all forms to Manara, and helping the Center to implement key educational programming including forging relationships with universities
across the Middle East and Southeast Asia.

A Concerted Effort to Fight Antisemitism: On Monday night at the Kennedy Center in Washington, thousands experienced the music and the heroes at a thrilling 30th Anniversary ADL In Concert Against Hate. Stars like Ben Stiller, Sia and Eden Golan entertained us and inspired us as we all work to fight antisemitism and hate the world over. Our honorees that night reminded us all of how important it is to speak out. Scooter Braun received the ADL Spotlight Award for bringing “The Nova Music Festival Exhibition: October 7th 06:29AM” to the U.S., where it has provided survivor testimonies and recreated the atmosphere of the harrowing Hamas attack. Then, Blair Underwood, Shiva Negar
and Cynthia Mace joined us to honor our Kay Family Award recipients Dr. Mehnaz Afridi, Dr. Charles Chavis and Rosette Goldstein. We were honored to present the Levenson Family Defender of Democracy Award to Noa Fay, Luda Isakharov and Einav Tsach, students who both on campus and on Capitol Hill have put their college experience on the line in order to speak up for what’s right. We need people like these honorees more than ever!

Making Progress with ADL

Steaming Ahead: In last week's ADL Antisemitism Briefing, we covered a new ADL report where our investigators identified more than 1.8 million unique pieces of extremist or hateful content, including explicitly antisemitic, neo-Nazi and Islamist terrorist material on Steam, the world’s most popular online gaming marketplace. The report included recommendations for Steam’s parent company, Valve, and government policy makers. Just days later, Sen. Mark Warner sent a letter to the CEO of Valve calling for action to curtail extremist content, referencing the ADL report and pointing out how the company is failing to uphold its own policies that bar content "encouraging real-world
violence." He set a December deadline for a response from Valve, and we will keep you updated on progress. Read

ADL applauds the passage of H.Res 1449, welcoming the Global Guidelines for Countering Antisemitism and urging countries and international bodies to join the U.S. in adopting them. Thank you, @RepKManning and Rep. Chris Smith, for your bipartisan leadership on this resolution.

We thank the @USUN for using its veto at the @UN Security Council today to make it clear the US will not support any resolution that abandons the hostages and vindicates Hamas as they continue to hold 101 hostages, including 7 US citizens, in captivity. As Amb. Wood said, Hamas has rejected deal after deal and “this resolution would have sent a dangerous message to Hamas: there’s no need to come back to the negotiating table.” Hamas has held 101 hostages representing over 20 countries for 410 days. We must #BringThemHome.

Neo-Nazis marched through Columbus, Ohio, on Saturday — waving swastika flags and espousing vile antisemitism and racism. As ADL’s @OrenSegal said, these white supremacists “want to create fear and anxiety in communities and get a photo op.”
