Donald Trump wants to put Linda McMahon — the billionaire former chief executive
of the W.W.E. professional wrestling empire — in charge of the United States
Department of Education.

And Trump has repeatedly said the Department of Education should be eliminated
altogether.

* So maybe he picked McMahon because he thinks she will body slam the entire
department into submission.

* Or maybe because she has donated millions and millions to help get him
elected.

* Or maybe because she is the chairperson of a MAGA entity called the America
First Policy Institute, which published its own Project 2025-like manifesto
that includes calls for using the Department of Education to prevent students
from learning about institutionalized racism and expanding voucher programs
that funnel public funds into private and religious schools.

Opposition to Trump’s extreme nominations makes a difference — public outrage
and scrutiny just forced Matt Gaetz to withdraw from consideration for Attorney
General!
