But, I am also more prepared. Under Trump, DC Jobs With Justice led the fight against the Trump federal shutdown, won the first direct COVID cash assistance to excluded workers in the country, and won many local campaigns that make our community stronger today to fight whatever is next.
Trump’s promises endanger the DC community in ways we cannot count, and we hate to imagine. Our communities are in increasing danger; as immigrants, women and trans people, and communities already overpoliced. The very principles of local democracy are also in danger, along with the ability of Washingtonians to govern ourselves.
DC JWJ is ready to fight back. We are already fighting back. We helped launch Defend DC, which facilitated three meetings with over 1,000 people attending in the ten days after Trump won. We are committed to building the progressive movement that will stand up for DC autonomy, stand up for our communities, and stand up for each other in the years to come.
So this year, we are launching our most ambitious end of year fundraising campaign ever. As we head into the new year, we know we need the support of our community to power our movement.
That’s why we’re launching $25,000 by 2025.
Our goal is to raise $25,000 in individual unrestricted donations to fuel our work in 2025. Every dollar allows DC JWJ to advocate and organize for emergent needs in our community.
