We're going to return to pro-growth, pro-work, pro-energy policies, and we're long overdue for private sector leaders like Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy - not Washington bureaucrats - to help us root out the wasteful spending that is plaguing our country.

Make America Energy Independent Again!

Our post-election agenda in the lame duck session - Make America Energy Independent Again!

Last week, the House passed the HEATS Act (H.R. 7409) to remove the requirement for a federal drilling permit of geothermal activities on non-federal land.

For too long, American oil and gas production has been hamstrung by overregulation and extreme environmental activism. Removing barriers to production and burdensome red tape will empower producers to unleash the resources our country needs and lower prices for hardworking American families.

We also passed the Critical Mineral Consistency Act (H.R. 8446) to require the United States Geological Survey (USGS) to update its critical minerals list to include materials designated by the Department of Energy (DOE) as critical for energy technologies. Currently, the two lists do not match.

America’s self-sustainability depends on mining our own critical minerals. To diversify away from bad actors and adversaries like China, we must be able to quickly and reliably access the abundant natural resources and critical minerals in our own backyard. The Critical Mineral Consistency Act will prevent bottlenecks and burdensome red tape, both of which add time and cost we cannot afford.

Defending the Second Amendment

The Biden-Harris administration has made a habit of infringing on the Constitutional rights of the American People, this time taking direct aim at the 2nd Amendment.

Instead of keeping the ATF within the limits of its jurisdiction to enforce the law, this administration is criminalizing firearms sales and trades between law-abiding citizens.

I’m proud to have led 20 of my fellow Texas Republicans in filing an amicus brief to rein-in the ATF and safeguard our 2nd Amendment right.

Honoring Our Veterans

Ahead of Veterans Day, I had the profound honor of meeting with a group of incredible veterans in Lubbock and presenting them with American flags flown over the United States Capitol in their honor.

Our veterans are living monuments of courage, valor, and patriotism. We owe them more than we could ever pay.

Fighting For Our Seniors

For decades, public servants like police officers, firefighters, and teachers have lost benefits they worked hard to earn because of an outdated, overly complex, and unfair formula used by the Social Security Administration.

This formula, called the Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP), continues to shortchange our seniors, and every month Congress fails to fix this inequity, retirees and their dependents lose precious resources they need and have earned.

Recently, I spoke on the House floor to urge my colleagues to pass my legislation, the Equal Treatment of Public Servants Act, to finally put an end to this inequity.
