John,
Where there is defeat and disgrace this election cycle, we must also look for signs of progress and hope for the future.
No one knows what the first two years of the second Trump Administration will really look like. Nor does anyone know for sure how the people will react to it.
It will be our job to shape public perception of whatever cruel, arbitrary, and destructive actions Trump directs his far-right, reactionary Cabinet and staff to take—and to hold his willing lapdogs and lackeys accountable.
As a prime example, take Lauren Boebert. Boebert stands out as one of the most MAGA Republicans who gravely underperformed Donald Trump in her (new) district. She had universal name ID, unlimited cash to spend, and a favorable national environment in a presidential year, and she won by less than half of the margin of every other GOP candidate before her.
The Colorado Sun put it best: "Republican U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert was reelected to Congress, but her showing in the 4th Congressional District should be nothing short of an alarm bell for the congresswoman."
