Local non-profits know deeply what their communities need, but most funding barely covers keeping their heads above water to provide existing services - let alone cover the space and time to innovate around what's next or solve more complex challenges. Black and Brown-led nonprofits also receive 34% less funding than white-led groups. With support from the Deloitte Health Equity Institute (DHEI) and Collaborosity, Health Leads redesigned local investing with the Makers Residency. Over 10 weeks, five visionary community leaders received coaching, funding, technical assistance and peer support to innovate and drive forward a new wave of local, sustainable change.
