The City has vacancies on key boards and commissions, including three important seats designated for District 1 nomination: Commission on Gang Prevention and Intervention, Human Relations Commission, and Consolidated Plan Advisory Board. Serving on volunteer boards throughout my career was my way of giving back to my community. I encourage folks to get involved and apply.

WE NEED YOUR FEEDBACK

San Diego's coastline is a defining aspect of our region—we must protect our investment in public infrastructure and private development while preserving our iconic coastal bluffs, sandy beaches, coastal access, and recreational opportunities. The City released its draft Coastal Resilience Master Plan, and we need your feedback. Participate via online survey or by emailing [email protected]. You can read the draft Coastal Resilience Master Plan here.

HONORING CITY ATTORNEY MARA ELLIOTT

The City Council declared November 19, 2024, as City Attorney Mara Elliott Day in recognition and celebration of her fifteen years of impactful service to the City of San Diego, as she serves her 2nd and final term as our City Attorney. Although her career is full of many accomplishments, I want to express my gratitude for the work we collaborated on with Measure D, the Independent Ethics Commission Amendment. Thank you, Madame City Attorney, for leading and partnering with me on this important charter amendment. The voters' decision to make the City of San Diego Ethics Commission more independent reflects their trust in her commitment to greater transparency and oversight within the City. City Attorney Elliott leaves a legacy of strong advocacy, dedication to public safety, and unwavering commitment to improving the lives of San Diegans through her steadfast representation. We thank her for her service and wish her the best on her next adventure.
