Dear Friend –
As the elections conclude, one thing is clear: we don’t have a champion for tech accountability headed for the White House. Influential Big Tech figures like Elon Musk are already being tapped for government roles, which could give them a say over the “federal agencies that oversee [their] companies that receive government funding,” including their social media platforms.1 This arrangement raises serious concerns.
Make no mistake, this is scary. But here’s the thing: We faced powerful giants before this election, and that has never stopped us. We know that holding these Big Tech monopolies accountable requires power — the power of the people. It takes all of us to unite, demanding a safer digital world for everyone. And now is the moment to tap in and make our voices heard.
TAP IN
Before any changes happen in our government, we must make it clear to our decision-makers that we will not passively accept Big Tech’s harmful policies. We’re not ok with them using our data to manipulate us, create echo chambers and false realities for their users, and ignore the harms that their platforms cause people each and every day.
What does that mean for us? It means calling out mis- and disinformation as we see it. It means creating a community of activists who are informed and primed to hold Big Tech accountable. Let us know you’re ready to be in the fight with us. We’ll keep you posted on the latest actions to fight for accountability.
We know that these Big Tech monopolies rely on our attention. It’s up to us how we choose to give it to them. Together, we’ve got the power to hold Big Tech accountable.
With gratitude and solidarity,
Chip in to support our work holding Big Tech accountable:
