My name is Qasim Rashid and I’m running for United States Congress. I’m a dad, husband, immigrant, and human rights lawyer. I am running for Congress to transform my advocacy as a human rights lawyer into results for working families.

After graduating with distinction from the University of Richmond School of Law, and a few years practicing corporate litigation, I shifted my career wholly to human rights advocacy. Today I advocate for women who are survivors of domestic and sexual violence, serve vulnerable children, and fight for universal freedom of conscience. My wife, Ayesha, is a small business owner and manages communications for a climate justice non-profit. We also have three beautiful children (11, 6, and 4).

While our country struggles with access to adequate healthcare, a living wage, lack of support for our teachers and veterans, and the effects of climate change, we are now also in the midst of a global health pandemic. Our campaign is responding to these challenges through our Compassion Through Action initiative—which provides support and critical equipment to residents of our district in need. Our campaign is fighting for change in Congress, and also working to serve and address the needs of constituents, right now, because our communities need leadership.
