It’s Sam Schwartz. Today is my 21st birthday. For the past several years, I’ve marked my birthday by raising money for gun safety causes that are important to me. Today is my 21st birthday!


Since my cousin, Alex Schachter, died in the Parkland massacre when we were both only 14 years old, I’ve been tirelessly advocating for gun safety legislation and a ban on the assault weapons that stole Alex from my family.

In 2023, I helped Ban Assault Weapons Now host a monumental Senate sit-in with other gun violence survivors and family members to demand the Senate take up a vote on an assault weapons ban.

I met year after year with our elected officials alongside other gun safety advocates to ask for lifesaving change.

I even drove over 9,000 miles from coast to coast with passionate Gen Z activists to rally other young folks around gun safety champions on this summer’s Tour to Save Democracy.

And now I want to celebrate my 21st birthday by funding continued action against Trump’s extreme anti-gun safety agenda.

That’s why I’m asking you to contribute $21 – or whatever you can spare – before my birthday ends at midnight tonight to ensure BAWN can carry on their crucial work. With Republicans set to take full control of the government, it’s never been more important that BAWN has the resources to fight back against their cruel, dangerous, anti-gun safety schemes at every turn. If just 200 grassroots gun safety champions say they’re with BAWN before midnight, they’ll have the funds to defend our gun safety progress and push back against Trump and the gun lobby’s insidious plots. BAWN is committed to replacing every cowardly and complacent lawmaker, regardless of party, that denies your right to live without fear of being shot. Legislators that support the deadly proliferation of guns, instead of common sense gun safety measures, are responsible for the carnage of gun violence -- and must be voted out.

BAWN also lobbies legislators to support the assault weapon and large capacity magazine ban bills that will help put an end to the slaughter of innocent Americans.
