Donald Trump and his billionaire allies have revealed their true agenda: slash Social Security and Medicare to pay for trillions of dollars in tax cuts for the ultra-wealthy.

Let's be clear about their plan: Republicans are preparing to renew the Trump tax scam mostly for the rich and corporations, which will add $5 trillion to the federal debt.[1] They’ll then use this exploding debt as an excuse to slash critical services: Social Security and Medicare―programs that seniors have paid into their entire working lives―plus Medicaid, education, housing and more.

Trump has even tapped billionaires Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy to lead a cynically named "Department of Government Efficiency" that's really designed to gut our earned benefits, gut investments in healthcare, gut nutrition programs―basically, gut everything government does to give a hand to working families. Musk has called for slashing $2 trillion from the federal budget while telling Americans to prepare for "hardship".[2][3] But you can bet billionaires like him won't face any hardship―they'll be too busy enjoying their windfall tax cuts.

Before Social Security, 78% of seniors lived in poverty.[4] Today, thanks to Social Security, that number has dropped to around 10%.[5] But all that progress is at risk if Trump and his billionaire cabinet get their way.

Trump's plan would give away trillions of dollars to billionaires and corporations while threatening the retirement security and healthcare of tens of millions of Americans. Social Security and Medicare provide dignity and stability for seniors who've worked their whole lives.

JD Vance has already indicated that Musk and Ramaswamy's commission will target Social Security.[6] Despite Trump's empty campaign promises to protect these programs, his record shows the truth―he proposed billions in cuts during his first term.[7]

No one voted in this election to cut to Social Security and Medicare. In fact, according to a post-election Pew Research poll, 77% of Donald Trump’s supporters say “Social Security should NOT be reduced in any way”.[8] But Trump and his billionaire allies don't care what the American people want, they only care about enriching themselves further.

We cannot allow them to sacrifice our earned benefits just to pad billionaire bank accounts. The time to fight back is now.
