Friend,
President Biden has 60 days left in office to cement his environmental legacy and protect the historic climate legislation passed in the last four years. Trump's presidency threatens to unravel the progress we’ve made in the last four years. To help safeguard our health, communities, and climate, here are three key things Biden needs to do right now:
Speed up the clean energy transition.
All remaining funds from the Inflation Reduction Act and the Infrastructure Investment & Jobs Act must be disbursed to states, communities, and utilities to help electrify homes, create new clean energy jobs, and reduce greenhouse emissions. Biden can also direct the administration to finalize California’s clean transportation waivers so that other states can follow suit.
Say no to new fossil fuels.
Liquefied methane gas (LNG) export terminals, like the proposed CP2 facility in Louisiana, and oil pipelines like the Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL) lock us into more emissions and a more unstable future. These projects are bad news for our wallets too, as domestic consumers could face $14.3 billion more in annual costs just due to planned LNG exports. President Biden’s Department of Energy must deny CP2 and finalize the studies on LNG impacts. He can also shut down the dirty Dakota Access Pipeline by telling the Army Corps of Engineers to deny the permit.
Protect public lands.
The Biden-Harris administration can protect key historical lands using the Antiquities Act to declare new national monuments. Sierra Club local and national staff and volunteers are working to support locally and Tribally-led monumental proposals that President Biden should act on before it's too late, including Black Wall Street, Chuckwalla, and Sititala.
The clock is ticking. With just weeks left until Trump takes office, President Biden must take action NOW to do everything he can to protect our health, air, water, outdoors, and climate from political and corporate interests.
Tell Biden to Act!

While our environmental laws will likely come under attack in ways we have never seen before under the Trump administration, these next ten weeks could prove pivotal in slowing and stopping many of these measures.
Tell President Biden to take bold action in order to protect our health, communities, and climate!

Our advocacy will be crucial in ensuring that the Biden Administration creates as many safeguards for our environment as possible before leaving office. With the looming threat of Trump, these times call for bold action. The planet, places, and people we love deserve nothing less.
Thank you,
Sierra Club Action Team
