The recent announcement that Donald Trump is expected to nominate Linda
McMahon as Secretary of Education represents a pivotal moment for the future of
public education in America. This decision bypasses the recently speculated
founder of Moms for Liberty, Tiffany Justice, and another extreme voice,
Oklahoma Superintendent Ryan Walters, whom both openly lobbied for the position.

Yet, while the exclusion of these two from leadership in public education
offers some relief, Linda McMahon’s nomination is far from a victory for
students, educators, or families. Her lack of experience in public education,
coupled with her history as a corporate executive and Trump political
fundraiser, signals a continued prioritization of political loyalty over
educational expertise.

The broader context of this nomination cannot be ignored. Trump’s education
agenda includes proposals to dismantle the Department of Education; a move that
would devastate public schools, eliminate protections for vulnerable students,
and destabilize funding for millions of children across the country.

This reckless nomination makes it clear why the work of Educated We Stand is
not only relevant but urgently needed. We will continue to champion public
schools, push back against harmful policies, and demand leadership that
prioritizes students, teachers, and families—not politics and propaganda.
