In lockstep with the Healey-Driscoll Administration, Boston Mayor Michelle Wu has declared Boston Police will NOT cooperate with federal authorities in deportation efforts involving criminal illegal immigrants. “Soft on Crime” Wu even went so far as to call federal plans for mass deportations just a whim!
Let’s call a spade a spade - Mayor Wu’s decision to ignore federal ICE detainers for illegal immigrants with criminal records endangers Boston residents. This policy sends a very real and very dangerous message that Boston is a sanctuary for those seeking to evade federal law enforcement.
If the FBI, DEA, ATF, or any other federal agency requested Boston’s assistance in identifying and arresting a criminal responsible for heinous crimes, the city would cooperate.
Yet, Mayor Wu and the Healey-Driscoll Administration are actively preventing local authorities from working with ICE to apprehend known criminals simply because they are here illegally.
