What if you woke up tomorrow morning and learned that, overnight, there was a brand-new Constitution that banned abortion in all 50 states? Ended Medicare and Social Security? Or made peaceful protest a felony?

The fact is well-funded right-wing groups have been working in the shadows for years to make this nightmare scenario a reality. And after this year’s election results, they smell the opportunity to sign the last few states they need onto their plan.

I’m talking about Article V – a plot that would allow unelected, unaccountable delegates to radically reshape our Constitution.

The conspirators behind Article V have been working in secret on this clear and disturbing agenda. Shredding First Amendment protections. Gutting environmental regulations. Rolling back civil rights advances. And enshrining far-right economics as permanent fiscal policy – gutting Medicare, Medicaid, and other safety-net programs.

Many constitutional experts are sounding the alarm bells: with extremists already threatening to upend our checks and balances, Article V is more likely to happen than ever before.

Even worse, this threat to our democracy is being cooked up behind closed doors and out of the public eye.
